Westport is situated at the head of Clew Bay in the shadow of the renowned Croagh Patrick Mountain, one of Europes best known places of pilgrimmage which hosts a small church at on the summit.If youre feeling energetic why not try climbing one f Ireland's most famous mountains and enjoy the spectacular views from the summit on a clear day. The traditional pilgrimage is on the last Sunday of July. Many people tracel the mountain in the day time and also at night.But it is much safer to climb the mountain in the day as visability is at best!

Westport Golf club off the Carrowholly Road is an 18 hole championship course, considered to be one of the best in Ireland. Visitors are very welcome but booking tee time is essential. Clew Bay golf course at Kilmeena, 9kms from Westport Town, is a 9 hole beauitful scenic course. Their is also a gold driving ramge a short distance past Westport Golf Club.
