Murrisk boasts an outstanding location, lying between the shores of Clew Bay , its 365 islands and the majestic mountain of Croagh Patrick (known locally as “The Reek”).  The main pathway to Croagh Patrick starts in Murrisk, for the many thousands of pilgrims who climb this mountain annually, the main pilgrimage is always the last Sunday in July where thousands climb this holy mountain, some even in their feet!

Murrisk is situated only 10 minutes from Westport Town and on the tourist route to Louisburgh and Connemara .  Murrisk can be the starting place for some of Mayo’s most scenic drives, travel south to Connemara, north to Achill via Westport and Newport, or to Ballycastle and the Ceide Fields, via Castlebar or if you fancy parking the car, go West to Clare Island or Inishturk Island.

Within strolling distance from our luxury holiday properties are two pubs in the village.  “The Tavern” has a renowned restaurant and excellent pub food.  There is a café/craft shop located at the Croagh Patrick Ascent Car Park, just two minutes walk.

Directly across from our luxury holiday properties and overlooking the sea is the dramatic National Famine Monument and the long and sandy Bertra Beach beside Murrisk village has been awarded the Blue Flag.
